To broaden our mission, Wash Arts has nurtured a dynamic program over the past five years, designed to partner with non-profit agencies and groups of underserved children and adults. Through their partnerships with the Washington and Greene County Blind Association,Vision Quest group homes for boys and teen mothers, Avis Arbor Women’s shelter of the City Mission, and Phase 4 Learning Center’s Alternative School.
Wash Arts has customized courses to incorporate individuals who otherwise would not have an opportunity to explore the arts. Through this program, children and adults within these organizations can enroll in a variety of visual arts courses, as well as participate in customized courses in pottery, poetry and dance. Currently boys from troubled backgrounds are able to work with an award-winning artist and poet in drawing and poetry workshops; some preparing art portfolios for higher education.
